The context of the 1930s was a turbulent political climate in Germany, including Nazi-era censorship and the branding of "degenerate art," led to many artists at the time having a difficult historical trail. 

However from his varied works we know A. Davmiller was an important modernist German artist active in the 1930s, known for creating bronze and marble sculptures.

His work often depicting Teutonic subjects such as romantic German figures of history such as Medieval knights on horseback.

Davmiller was also interested in the natural world such as deer and horses and there are fine examples of this depicted in bronze.

His biographical history is less detailed and leaves him a rather mysterious figure.

This particular female figure shows a highly skilled artist with a fine sense of style and a strong understanding of modernist artistic trends of the time. Given the more regressive politics of the time this makes his work more remarkable.
